Charging stations for electric vehicles:

Self-service charging stations for electric cars, scooters and bikes are designed to charge batteries without the presence of charging station attendants. Having arrived, drivers plug their vehicles into the station socket using a cable, and they simply switch charging on.

When charging with alternating current, an on-board charger integrated in each electric vehicle shall be used. The charger receives alternating current and converts it into direct current.

DC charging by-passes the electric-vehicle charger and it sends direct current straight to the battery. Therefore, charging is not limited by the performance of the on-board charger and it is much faster.
